Well this came as a bit of shock, posted on the Toonami Tumblr page on September 22nd, 2014 at 3:41pm Sym-Bionic Titan & Beware the Batman have been written.

What's a write-off?

The term "write-off" simply means that companies are able to write off certain expenses that are required to run the business. These assets which they own are creating a debt and in order to save money for both the company and it's share holders it can write-off the asset. Basically saying "we don't have to pay this any more so stop taxing use". Obviously they lose certain writes when they do this but in order to save money (normally taxes) it is occasionally done.

What does this mean for the future of SBT?

Well it's a bit complicated, technically neither Turner (CN, Toonami, Adult Swim) or ANY OTHER group can air SBT on T.V, however, from my understanding the writes of the show are kind of floating around when this happens. So by that logic someone could snatch them-up if they want to, however, they are useless to most TV content providers. If someone does end-up picking it up they can then theoretically release content that is not air on TV, like a DVD/Blu-Ray box set, art, comics, etc... so long as it is not on T.V. The show could also be picked-up outside of the country by this logic since U.S does not equal international law.

Now with that in mind we could also theoretically see some group could also pick-up the writes and air an online version as it is not on public broadcasting. More and more companies are moving to the online platform, Sony has show interest with Cartoon Hangover & even big name shows like Legend of Korra (besides the poor advertising for Book 3) moved to the online format.

Could we see a season 2 exclusively online? Who knows. One thing is for sure, SBT will not air again on Toonami and while it has not been announced it is most likely that you can't view the show on Adult's Swim website after the write off takes effect. It is also not confirmed if SBT will still be available for purchase on iTunes. Might as well buy Part 1 & Part 2 now if you want, besides the fact that they are sub-HD m4a videos -_-.

Who knows what the future holds but check back for more news coverage.
